How to Play

Brave Survivors is a free survivors-style action game that runs in your browser — no download, no sign-up. Pick a hero, walk into a field of monsters, and your weapons fire on their own: you steer with W A S D or by clicking where to go, scoop up the gems enemies drop, and on every level-up choose one of three abilities. Push an active ability to its maximum level, own its paired passive, and it evolves into something far stronger — Flying Axe becomes Twin Daggers, Boomerang becomes Recoiler. Every stage is named after the boss waiting at the end of it, fifty in all, from Dark Knight to Eternal Lich. The game is in English, and opens in Japanese automatically for Japanese browsers.

Special Rules

Auto-Attack Survival: Monsters close in from every side while your hero attacks automatically. You never aim — what you decide is where to move and which abilities to take. Stay mobile: standing still lets the swarm surround you.
Gems & Level-Ups: Defeated enemies drop experience gems. Fill the bar to level up and pick one of three cards: NEW! marks an ability you don't have yet, a level number means it upgrades one you own, and EVO means an evolution is ready. Don't like the offer? REFRESH rerolls it.
Evolutions: Raise an active ability to its maximum level and own its paired passive, and its evolution appears as a level-up card. There are twelve pairs — for example Shooting Star + Space Orb = Void Star, Boomerang + Magnet = Recoiler, Steel Sword + Golden Chalice = Sacred Blade.
In-Run Challenges: Each stage shows a timed challenge at the top of the screen — Kill 156 enemies, Collect 5 coins, defeat bosses or mini bosses, or level up abilities — with a reward for finishing it before the clock runs out.
Fifty Bosses: Stages are named after the boss that guards them: Dark Knight, Dark Fox, Ghost, Sea Snail, Treant, Skull King, Rock Giant, Two Head Ogre, Blue Dragon and onward to Shadow Dragon, Chaos Wyrm and Eternal Lich — fifty in all.
Revive: Fall in battle and the YOU DIED screen lets you revive and keep fighting with your build intact, or exit the stage.
Heroes & Upgrades: Thirteen heroes — Swordman, Mage, Axe Thrower, Sterling, Chase, Bolt, Flare, Rocky, Frost, Rune, Victor, Blaze and Pumpy — each start a run with their own weapon. Between stages, recruit new heroes, equip gear, and spend gold on permanent Health, Damage, Armor and Healing upgrades.
Progress Saves: Heroes, upgrades, gear and stage progress are saved in your browser on this device.

Weapons: Steel Sword (slashes enemies in front of you), Wooden Wand (magic shot at the nearest enemy), Flying Axe (a spinning axe), and PumpyFire — each hero starts with one.
Active abilities: Shooting Star (orbits you), Guardian Eye (damage in a small area around you), Lightning Amulet (lightning from above), Rolling Stone (a rolling friend), Ice Shard (a piercing icicle), Magic Rune (an explosive symbol on the floor), Fireball, Boomerang, and Solar Magnifier (a powerful sun ray).
Passives: Power Gauntlet (damage), Book Of Wisdom (XP), Heart Charm (max HP), Grow Bean (ability size), Space Orb (duration), Titan Shield (damage taken), Wings (move speed), Magnet (pickup range), Hourglass (cooldowns), Vitality Potion (HP regen), Golden Chalice (gold), Wind Fan (projectile speed).

What are the controls?

What happens when my hero dies?

The YOU DIED screen appears. Revive to continue the stage with everything you've built so far, or exit to return to the lobby.

Is the game in Japanese?

Yes. Brave Survivors opens in Japanese automatically when your browser is set to Japanese or when you play from the Japanese page (playgami.gg/ja/game/brave-survivors); otherwise it is in English.

Can I play Brave Survivors on my phone?

The game has touch controls built in — tap to move or use the on-screen joystick — and its screens adapt to portrait and landscape. We have tested it in desktop browsers so far, so a computer is the recommended way to play for now.

Does my progress save?

Yes. Heroes, upgrades, gear and stage progress are saved in your browser's local storage on the device you play on. Clearing site data or switching devices starts a new save.

Is there multiplayer?

No. Brave Survivors is single-player; every enemy is computer-controlled.
