How to Play
Euchre is the card game of the American Midwest — the one dealt in Michigan kitchens, Ohio bars, and Indiana church basements for a hundred and fifty years — and this free browser version seats you at a proper four-player partnership table: you and your bot partner Bill against Mike and Lisa, racing to 10 points. Every hand is quick and sharp the way euchre should be: five cards each from the famously short deck, one card turned face-up, and two rounds of calling — tell the dealer to pick it up, or pass and name another suit. Then the bowers take over: the jack of trump is the Right Bower, the highest card in the game, and the same-color jack rides beside it as the Left. Make three tricks for a point, sweep all five for a march worth two, or go alone and take all five for four — but fall short and you're euchred, handing the defenders two. Browser Controls
- Call Trump: One card is turned face-up beside the dealer. Tell the dealer to pick it up to make that suit trump — or pass, and if all four players pass, the second round lets you name any other suit instead.
- Play a Card: Click or tap a card to play it to the trick. Follow the suit that was led if you can — highest trump takes the trick, otherwise the highest card of the led suit wins, and the winner leads next.
- Go Alone: Confident in your hand? Declare alone when you call trump and your partner sits the hand out — sweep all five tricks by yourself and it's worth four points instead of two.

- Settings: Toggle music, card and score sounds, visual effects — and the Stick the Dealer rule — any time from Settings.
Special Rules
- The Bowers: The jack of trump is the Right Bower — the highest card in the game. The jack of the same color is the Left Bower, second highest, and it counts as a trump in every way. Forgetting the Left is how new players lose tricks they'd already counted.
- Two Rounds of Calling: Round one: order the turned card up, or pass. If all four pass, round two opens — name any other suit as trump. Whoever calls it takes on the contract: their team must win at least three of the five tricks.
- Scoring to 10: Make your three tricks for 1 point, take all five for a march worth 2, or win all five alone for 4. Fall short of three and you're euchred — the defenders score 2. First team to 10 points wins the game.
- Stick the Dealer: An optional house rule you can toggle in Settings: if everyone passes twice, the dealer must pick trump — no throwing the hand in. It keeps every deal live and every dealer honest.
Bowers & Big Plays
- The Right Bower: The jack of trump — the boss of the whole deck. When you hold it, you own a trick; when you don't, count the cards until you know where it sleeps.
- The Left Bower: The jack matching trump's color, quietly promoted into the trump suit as its second card. It follows trump, beats everything but the Right — and blindsides anyone who forgot it switched teams.
- The Turned Card: The face-up card by the dealer is the whole first round of bidding. Order it up when it strengthens your side of the table — and remember it goes to the dealer's hand, not yours.
- Going Alone: Four points is the biggest prize in euchre, and it's earned solo. Go alone on hands where the bowers are yours and the losers are few — heroics without the cards is how teams get euchred.
